Army Service Corps

Company Quartermaster Sergeant, 12th Division Train ASC.

William ANDREE was born circa 1875 in Bangalore, India. Not much at all exists on William Andree, and leads quickly peter out to nothing. His service records must have been destroyed by fire during the course of World War II, as none can be found amongst the burnt records and the Army List does not extend down as far as CQMS. On the Military Genealogy site it shows that he was residing in Hammer, Surrey, and that he enlisted into the Army at Northampton.

T2/SR/03914 Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS) William Good Andree was with the Army Service Corps.

A William Andree was registered as married in June 1900 in London in St George, Hanover Square London. A Kathleen Agnes Andree was registered as born in Quarter 1 1907 in Colchester Essex, and James William Andree was registered as born in Quarter 3 1902, which fit nicely into the timeframe but it is supposition to believe that these are his children. It is only the rareness of the name which leads credence that this information might be true. Further research and investigation has yielded nothing.

William Andree is no. 196 in the register of members of the lodge and was initiated as a Sergeant (serving with the 2nd Bn. Northampton Regiment) into Comrades Lodge on 21 April 1908 aged 33, passed 18 May 1908 and raised 08 June 1908. The minute books, as is typical of the times shows 4 entries for most individuals. WG Andree is recorded on Pages 86/89 for a proposition as candidate, initiation, passing and raising respectively. He is also recorded on the rare list of members on Page 109 - 20th December 1909. If his path followed the Northamptonshire Regiment, he would have gone on to Malta in 1911 and Egypt before coming part of 8th Division landing in France around November 1914. At some point he transferred to the Army Service Corps.

Company Quarter Master Sergeant William Good Andree was died in the service of his King and his Country on 7th May 1916. He is respectfully interred Plot I. Row F Grave 41 at Lapugnoy Military Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France.
